SPRING BREAK HELP IS HARD TO FIND

Elizabeth Ide is going to the dogs!

With Mrs. Cronin and Mrs. Caliendo out last week, I had to hire some last minute help. I couldn't believe Seabiscuit was the only help available. Although, he is very cute his typing skills left something to be desired and don't get me started on his filing!

Seriously, I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing break and were able to enjoy some quality family time.

SPRING IS HERE!!!

What do you think of when you hear the word 'SPRING' ?

Rainbows of Flowers

Warmer Weather

Easter

Spring Break

Lush Green Grass

Hummingbirds in flight

Sunbeams of Light

Flowers in Bloom

Time to Spring Clean

Scents of different Flowers

Chirping Birds Buzzing

Bees

Tadpoles develop into Frogs

April Showers bring May Flowers

The Smell of Fresh Cut Grass
All of these things seemed so far away but with the sun out today and the warmer temperatures it seems like SPRING IS HERE!!!! I hope you are all having a wonderful break and am looking forward to seeing everyone again next week (it's a little lonely and quiet without you) :(

THE BLUE MAN GROUP

CHASE AWAY THESE WINTER BLUES

Last night my husband, stepdaughter and I went to see the Blue Man Group for the first time. I had no idea what to expect but was looking forward to going. All I can say is that I laughed more last night than I have laughed in a long time. The show was wonderful and I even got to be a star for a night when I was unexpectedly pulled up on stage to perform in a skit. I am not formally promoting this show but what I am promoting is going out and spending time with family doing something different and fun. Instead of complaining about the weather outside, find some terrific things to do inside together; play board games, go to a movie, a museum or play, etc. Just enjoy each other and before we know it spring will arrive!!!!
In case any of you are interested in the Blue Man Group. The article below is from wikipedia.com:
Blue Man Group (Blue Man, BMG) is a creative organization founded by Phil Stanton, Chris Wink, and Matt Goldman; it is centered on a trio of mute performers, called Blue Men, who present themselves in blue grease paint and wear latex bald caps and black clothing. Blue Man Group's theatrical acts incorporate rock music (with an emphasis on percussion), odd props, audience participation, sophisticated lighting, and large amounts of paper. It is also noted for having a "poncho section" of the audience; in the front rows, audience members are provided with plastic ponchos in order to protect them from various food, substances, paints, and so on, which get thrown, ejected, or sprayed from the stage. The shows are family-oriented, humorous, energetic and often employ thought-provoking satire on modern life. Some of the humor breaks the fourth wall, for example, interrupting the show to ridicule latecomers in the audience.

HORTON HEARS A WHO

Horton Hears a Who

A big congratulations and thank you goes out to our district PTO. The Horton fundraiser at Hollywood Boulevard was a huge success. There were many smiling (and painted) faces in each of the theatres and a good time was had by all. Thank you to the PTO Officers and all of the volunteers who made this fun day possible! We truly appreciate all of you!

LUCKY LIMERICKS

This week and next week I will be visiting classrooms and writing limericks with the students.
A limerick is a five-line poem with a strict form, originally popularized in English by Edward Lear. Limericks are frequently witty or humorous. Make sure to ask them about their funny creations!
Report cards are being sent home today, please sign and return the envelope they get delivered in.

Conferences continue this evening and there is a school board meeting at Prairieview at 7:00.

REPORT CARDS/CONFERENCES

Report Cards

Report Cards will be sent home on Tuesday, March 11th. Please keep the report card for yourselves and return the envelope to school with your signature.
Conferences

Conferences will be held Monday through Thursday. Please remember to arrive for your conference promptly to help the teachers remain on schedule. This is a time for you to ask any questions you may have and discuss your student's progress. If for some reason the allotted time of fifteen minutes is not enough you will have to schedule another meeting; if you go over your time you will be affecting all other conferences after you. Please respect the time of the teachers and other parents. Thank you and happy conferencing!

THANK YOU PTO

We received a wonderful thank you letter from from Operation Support Our Troops for our food and money collection. We collected $206.00 in spare change that was used to ship the packages to our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you to the PTO for organizing this service project and thank you to everyone who sent in change and food. Responses from some of the package recipients can be found at http://www.osotil.org/.

MATH AHOY

Last night the USS Ide took off for a night of Math Fun. Students visited different math "cabins" filled with fun activities ranging from board games and cards to bingo before docking for the night. Thank you again to the PTO for organizing this evening to celebrate Unplugged Week and to Mrs. Olsen, Mrs. Oliver, Mrs. Pellin and Mrs. Schultz for lending an oar!
